Thanksgiving Tradition

For 6 years, we have spent the evening after Thanksgiving with the Kuhn family!  We bring over our leftovers, and we all heat them up and eat and enjoy fun times with the kids!  All of the kids dressed in their Christmas pajamas which was so cute!  Brooklyn had that idea and couldn't wait to see her buddies' in their pjs!  This year, there was tons of food...all very yummy!  Rick got all of the kids dressed up in his old Halloween costume and they all came out to attack the others...too funny to watch how they all did it...very telling of personalities!  Then we all sang Christmas carols with the Santa Tracker Sing a longs!  So much fun!

Thanksgiving 2011

Our Thanksgiving was filled with fun, family, and lots of food!  We started the day enjoying the parade!  Both of the kiddos really got into it but it was no surprise that Brooklyn watched the dancers and singers like she had never seen them before!  She LOVES the arts of any sort!  Colson even went to go get his drum to play along with some of the marching bands...too cute!  We went to the Alford family house first!  There were a lot of us there but I didn't take many pictures!  Brooklyn made cards for Memaw and Mimi!  She was so excited to give them the card so I did get a picture of that!  Memaw is down in her back right now, so she made the card hoping that it would help her feel better!  We were busy beavers over there, so I didn't get many pictures!  We then came home for a short while before heading to my parents' house for dinner!  This was the first Thanksgiving in a LONG TIME that my dad is off!  He is really enjoying being around for the holidays and seeing everything up close and personal!  Kiki went with John to visit his family in St. Louis and Kentucky so it was a small gathering but just perfect!  Again, not a lot of pictures but a lot of love.

I am thankful for: great healthy kids and that things with my dad are working out for him to be on disability

Home Projects

If you know anything about my husband, you know he NEVER sits down!  There is always a project going on at our house!  On Monday, he decided he wanted to paint the study....so...we now have a painted study!  The kids got to help and they loved that!  Since everything came out of that room, I took time to go through toys and get them organized and go through for donations!  What a mess but so glad we did it!!!  It looks great!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

The weekend before Thanksgiving is always our time to start decorating for the holidays! I love to get it all out and start enjoying it while off for the week at Thanksgiving also! The kids had a BLAST this year with it all! Brooklyn loved looking at all of the ornaments as she put them on the tree....she especially liked all of the handmade by Brooklyn ornaments! Colson loved helping find the perfect spot for all of them...he liked them all bunched up in one place on the tree! We make it a point when we travel to get a Christmas ornament fromt the place we went so our tree is full of ornaments of different travels filled with different memories! I love that part!!! I made my very first wreath with materials that I bought while in Canton a few weeks ago! Love it and I am so proud of myself!!!

 

                                    

                                                 

Zoo Trip to Start off the Thanksgiving Holiday

To begin the Thanksgiving Holiday, we went to the zoo with the Kuhn family!  It was the least crowded I have ever seen it and so that was great!  The kids didn't have to wait to get prime spots to see the animals!  We went to the 4D experience which was Polar Express, and it was very cool!  Brooklyn LOVED it, but Colson was not big on how loud the train was in the movie!  It was fun to bring baby Emerson for his first zoo trip also!!!  We are now a bigger clan of 10!  Brooklyn's favorite was of course the Okapi and Colson's favorite was the Longhorn!

I forgot to post some very cute Pumpkin Patch 2011 pictures!  We ran up to the local pumpkin patch a few weekends ago with our great nephew Edward, Robert, Cynthia, and Ron.  It was a great morning and we got there before it got too crowded!  Got some good ones this year!!!

Field Day 2011-Kindergarten

Brooklyn's PE teachers are geniuses!  Why have field day at the end of the school year, when kids are overheating, teachers are drenched in sweat, and kids are not having fun because of the extreme heat?  They have it on the last day of school before Thanksgiving!!!  GENIUS!  The kids are full of energy and excitement because of the holiday, so let's focus that energy on physical games SUPER HERO STYLE!  Curt got to take off of work and go volunteer at the school for Brooklyn's very first elementary field day!  They competed as tribe colors since they are a TRIBES school.  Brooklyn is the green tribe so she is so excited about that...the little things!  When I asked her what her favorite event was, she said it was the obstacle course!!!  Curt said the kids were all so well behaved and really was impressed with the set up of the day, the games, and how smooth everything went....the PE coach in him got some ideas!!!
