Colson's First Movie--Toy Story 3

Colson experienced his very first movie today!  I was very nervous and skeptical as to how he would be.  I was not worried about Brooklyn at this age but he is an active little boy!  We decided to lay them down early for a nap so we could just go to our little movie theater right near our house.  This way if he misbehaved, it wouldn't be far from home.  He did not sleep for the first time EVER during his nap time so I was so upset because I wanted him to be rested and not moody for the movies.  BUT he did well.  He had some times that he was walking between us and Mimi but he sat and watched it for the majority of the time!  Go Colson!!  Brooklyn loved the movie and has said, "To infinity and beyond!" a zillion times this evening!

My big boy!

He was so amazed with this big place...just glad he didn't try to explore it too much!

The Little Gym

The kids started at the Little Gym last week and have enjoyed it so much!  It is a gymnastics class built on a curriculum.  The class for Colson is taught by Mrs. Allison and is a Mom and Tot class.  They are very accommodating to the kids going to explore and not so hard on them having to do everything at the same time...this is very good for Colson.  He is not a rule follower all the time that is for sure!  He loves it!!!  Brooklyn has a very large class right after Colson's class that is taught by three teachers.  They do a fun warm up and then start with the skills for the week.  She is on the beam, bars, floor and all sorts of fun things.  Last week's theme was a cowboy theme and everything they did revolved around that.  This week it was 3 Cheers for the Little Gym and they cheered on their friends during the day!  Here are some pics of my not so shy kids and how they are doing in gymnastics!

Father's Day 2010!

We had a great Father's Day!  Curt and I are both so lucky to be close to our fathers and are so thankful for the work ethic and strength that they taught us!  The Alfords were out of town so we haven't celebrated with them yet!  We celebrated with the Lewis clan on Tuesday so that Dad could be off of work!  We went to the Cheesecake Factory and had a great time....the kids were so good!  The day before Father's Day I had Brooklyn fill out the cards for Pop, Poppi, and Daddy.  She did a great job...just had to be coached on how to spell everything!  I told her to hide the card in her room so that it would be a surprise to Daddy when we gave him his gift...she was so excited and went to hide it.  A few hours later, she went to Curt and said, "Daddy, want a surprise?"  I had no idea what she was talking about...duh!  She went and proudly brought out the card she had hidden the day before we were going to give it to him...it was SO FUNNY!  She was so proud of herself!  We went to lunch with the Hathorn family after church and enjoyed our day together.  It was nice and relaxing!!!  It was also so special because we welcomed Sawyer James Kuhn to the Kuhn/Alford clan on the Friday before Father's Day.  He is so precious...there will be pictures to come!

Brooklyn was so proud of herself

She did a great job!  Kiki would be proud!!!  (She's a Kindergarten teacher and loves the nice handwriting!)

We got Daddy a case to the new phone that we also got him!  The Sprint 4G EVO..we are waiting for it!

We let Daddy sleep in and then they wanted to cuddle a while!

Vacation Bible School Days

Brooklyn has had a great week at Vacation Bible School this week.  She was only able to go M-Th but enjoyed it a lot.  We are not having VBS at our church this year so we went to another church in The Woodlands that one of my friends suggested.  It was a very large church which we are not used to so Brooklyn met new friends.  Galactic Blast was the theme and they learned about ways that God is incredible, amazing, and awesome!  Every day had a theme so she enjoyed dressing for those too!   It has been neat to put the music CD in the car and watch her do the hand motions and sing the songs that she learned.  She definitey has her favorites, "God of Wonders" and "Let Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord!"  So cute!

It is Green Day!  The first day!!!!!

Red day and Crazy Hair day!

Brooklyn loved her "Hundred Ponytails!"

Lovin' Ricky and Everett!

It's Backwards Day and yellow day!!!!!!

My Little Fish

We have always felt like it is so important for our kids to feel safe and comfortable in the water.  Brooklyn and Colson have both been taking lessons since they were 11 months old in a mommy and me class.  This is Brooklyn's second year to be in a semi-private lesson and Colson's first year to be in a totally private lesson.  We have an AMAZING teacher named Jessica who is the perfect mix of nurturing and instilling the importance of safety around the water!  She is great!  She is very patient with Colson who cries a bit at the beginning of class and then warms up to the situation!  He is doing great jumping off of the side of the pool and trying to catch the ball in the water.  Brooklyn has improved so much...she is finally starting to cover some distance with her arm stroke and kicking and jumps off of the side with ease!  She goes down to pick things off of the bottom of the pool and comes up on her own...pretty amazing!

What a ham!

Look at her jump!

All smiles!

Colson's Adenoid Surgery

On Friday June 11th, Colson had a second surgery.  Last summer he had tubes put in his ears to help with the fluid and ear infections.  We have had tons of success this year with only having one infection!  Now it was time for adenoids to be removed.  We have switched ENT Drs and I love Dr. Cordes so much.  She is very thorough and I really get a warm feeling rather than an "out to get your money" feeling!  She said he is too young for tonsils and may not end up needing them removed at all but after a quick peek she new the adenoids needed to be scraped!  Colson did very well getting up early and not having anything to eat or drink so I was relieved with that!  He went right back in his bed after he was given some loopy meds and he was in a dazed state with no problem.  About 20 minutes later she came back and said the adenoids were HUGE!  This is coming from a very calm and quiet dr!  She said we should see some huge improvements with his snoring (the kid snores like a 90 year old), and drooling...we are hoping for some speech improvements too!  His recovery was great....once the meds wore off he was ready to go...crazy kid!

Early in the morning..."What are y'all doing to me??"

He loved his gown and refused to take it off to leave!

He got a surgery hat and his little dog they gave him got one too!

So of course Daddy had to try it on too!  I love this picture!

They both look "loopy" but just Colson was given the meds!

He came out of surgery ok...just a little confused!  The worse part was getting all of the tape off of the IV and hand!

Looking at Daddy to drum!  Had to wear his gown home...his mouth is opened to help him breathe...I know not the best shot!

Brooklyn's First Teeth Cleaning

Brooklyn had her first visit to a dentist on Tuesday morning.  One of my best buds, Lorie, is a dental hygienist and runs the dental clinic at the career high school in SISD.  So, Brooklyn and I both went to Wunsche to get our teeth cleaned.  SHE LOVED IT!  Got a good report for her except that she is quite the teeth grinder.  We may have to do sealants in a few months to protect the teeth because she has already ground through the enamel!  Bummer!!!  Thank you LoLo!  You were awesome and Brooklyn loved every minute of it!!!!!!

Toby was there to welcome us!

Ready for action!

Brooklyn loved the "Barbie Mirror" and "Tooth Counter" that LoLo used!

She loved Mr. Thirsty too that sucked all of the water out of her mouth!

Thank you LoLo!!!
