Easter Preparations 2012

We had a great time decorating for Easter this year.  Colson was really into doing fun egg hunts for practice in the house.  We have been doing them for weeks!  He loved hiding them but didn't love it when it was his turn to find!  We will probably be finding eggs here and there for the months to come!  I got a recipe from one of my friends at work for Bunny Bait!  It was so yummy...popcorn, Easter M&Ms, white chocolate...well, when we tried it I could not find Easter M&Ms and I ruined 2 bags of white chocolate morsels!  I could not get them to melt without burning!  So we had chocolate bunny bait!  The kids loved to set it out for the bunny!
Brooklyn told me before bed on Saturday night that she knows that a bunny cannot bring toys and baskets to everyone.  I asked her what she thought about it all and she reasoned it out that the Bunny must have helpers that do the deliveries for him!!!!  I told her that it sounds like a plan to me!
Colson is in character for making the bunny bait!

Getting out the bait!  Brooklyn's hair is done to be curly for church tomorrow!

Hope the bunny is hungry!

Klein Art Exhibit 2012

We were so thrilled when Brooklyn came home and shared a certificate and a letter with us telling us that her art was picked out of the entire kindergarten to be displayed at the Klein Administration Building at their Spring Art Exhibit.  It was so neat to know that someone else is recognizing a talent that she has and we have seen for a long time!  Her art was a ceremonial mask.  It sounds like they learned about when they were used, looked at pictures of various masks, were given supplies and then made their own!
Brooklyn was so proud to see her name on her work and her work posted!  Definitely a proud Mommy and Daddy moment!

Here's to many more art shows!

Lettuce!!!

We have been taking care of our garden...watching some thrive, and some not so much!  We had our first success with lettuce!  We pulled up the lettuce and made a salad with it!  The kids were so excited and could not wait to surprise me when I got home with my very own salad made from fresh lettuce!
Brooklyn was so happy!

Our fresh salad!

Bluebonnets 2012

It is an annual tradition in our home to go take pictures in the bluebonnets.  The bluebonnet is the Texas state flower...remember my post a few weeks ago about the pride in Texas...well it follows through all the way to the state flower.  We venture out every year to different locations to take some good and not so good shots!  Every year has proven to be different from the last.  This year followed suit!  We always go with the Kuhn family...our kids love to take pictures together.  We have grown from 2 kids to 6 kids all together!  Unfortunately, baby Emerson has been in the hospital with pneumonia and major breathing issues for 5 days so they were not able to join us.  :(  We took the advice of the Pierrel family and headed out to Buffalo Springs in Montgomery!  I think there were tons of bluebonnets about a week ago but there was no time in our days to make the trip!  We found a pretty good place and got some great shots of the kids!  They were very cooperative, which was a change, and just loved being out there and exploring!

A Special Lady...

My mom has been friends with a lady named Martha since before I was born.  I feel blessed to know Martha.  She is the most caring, thoughtful, and generous person I think I know.  Every holiday, I mean EVERY holiday, since I was tiny, I have received a card from her in the mail.  I remember loving opening the mailbox to get her cards when I knew Valentines, St. Patrick's, and even our birthdays were coming up!  Well, now she has continued to send to me and also sends to my husband on our birthdays and anniversary.  She now shows her love to our kids through her cards every single holiday.  I think it is truly amazing!  We love you Mrs. Martha!
Well, Martha is a Precious Moment collector and is very involved in the Precious Moments world.  She knew that Brooklyn was a Daisy this year so she was determined to find one for her that is a Daisy!  Martha surprised Brooklyn and me with her Precious Moment Daisy....it is so sweet and just amazing to think of the amount of thoughtfulness that Martha has!  Truly a wonderful person!

St. Patrick's Day 2012

We had a pretty low key St. Patrick's Day for the most part.  We spent the morning on a bike ride/run on some trails in a park by our house.  It was so fun and the perfect weather.  We are only able to do this for a few months out of the year before it is just way too hot!  We went and got some flowers for the front bed to replace some that we lost in the drought last year...we are so thankful for the amount of rain we have had this year!  Mommy went out with some friends for a girl's night out which was so fun!  It is just nice to have dinner and visit with friends!
Thank you Memaw and Pop for the cute hat and headband for the kiddos!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

So blessed with great friends!
