Thanksgiving Feast at Lemm Elementary

I was so bummed that Curt and I could not attend Brooklyn's very first elementary Thanksgiving feast!  We were so sad that we could not get there but were so thrilled that Karianne's dad, Seth, took some pictures of Brooklyn at the feast!  I went in to volunteer and help make the kids' gear for the feast on Monday and was thrilled to be a part of the preparation!  Love Lemm and what they do for the kids!

Karianne is our friend that we have met in Daisys!  Her mom and I say it is an arranged friendship!  They are so cute together and have a great time when they play!  She went to AWANA with us last weekend so we have a blossoming friendship!

Mohawk Time!!!

Brooklyn was so proud of her hardwork in selling her first elementary school fundraiser!  She worked hard to sell cookies, pretzels, and pizzas because she really wanted to earn this mohawk!  My beautiful girl in a mohawk!!!

Carnival Time

The fall is such a fun family time filled with traditions and festivals!  We went to the Spring Baptist Fall Festival and enjoyed seeing many people we know, old friends and new friends, but more than that, just enjoyed being outside on an ABSOLUTELY beautiful day!!  The festival was very geared toward young kids!  Firetrucks, pony rides, small ferris wheel and carousel, carnival games, blow ups, and a cake walk!  When we went to the cake walk, we saw Mrs. Elke who was Colson's teacher last year.  She was running the cake walk, and Colson looked so confused to see her out of the school environment.  He looked at me and asked, " Why is Mrs. Elke in my cake walk?!"  So funny!  Mrs. Elke was SO WONDERFUL and hooked us up with some yummy treats!  I got to see tons of former students, which is always fun!!!

Halloween 2011

This year, we spent Halloween over at the Kuhn's house and their neighborhood.  It was a very low-key trick-or-treating night because it was a school night.  My parents joined us which is a first ever!!  Now that my dad is retired, he got to see the kids up close and personal instead of in pictures later!  He dressed as a beach bum for the night!!!  Jill's parents also went and her mom stayed with baby Emerson so Jill could go with the other 3 boys!  We went out around 6 and went down their street and one other small section.  The kids were all wonderful and had a great time!  The amount of candy was crazy but they were so happy!  It is days like this that I don't want them to grow up and not enjoy these days like they do now!  So grateful for wonderful friends and wonderful times!

Cute Colson Comments

The other night while on the potty, Colson was looking at his belly!  He looked up at Curt and said, "It's tangled!"  Then said, "Can you pull it apart?"  Curt was trying to figure out what he was talking about.  He asked Colson and his response was, "My belly button." 
TOO FUNNY!  Since most of you don't know, Colson has an EXTREME outty belly button!  It shows through his clothes, and is very "different" looking!  He asked Curt why his looks like that and Curt just responded with, "That is how God made you!"

Our First Costume Party

Our friends the Maddens invited us to their annual Halloween Costume Party.  It was our first family costume party to attend!  It was so wonderful!  It was very geared toward the kids with tons of games: a scavenger hunt, pumpkin decorating, pin the smile on the skeleton, and tons of other things!  They even had a stage and did a little parade of the kids' costumes!  So fun!  Thank you for the invite!!!

 

By the way...do our kids not have the cutest costumes ever!  Well, there are a lot of Dorothy costumes out there, but none with a Tin Man by her side!  We got so many compliments and OOOs and aaahhhhs!!!

Getting Ready for Fall!

The kids are always so excited about picking pumpkins and carving them!  This year they each got to pick their own!  It was interesting to see their choices....Colson picks one that stands just right and is the typical looking "normal" pumpkin and does so in about 30 seconds!  Brooklyn, stews over her decision for quite a long time and then picks this pumpkin that is lopsided, has huge blemishes all over it and the little gourd-looking pimples all over!  Though I loved it, I knew it would be impossible to carve, so I sent her in for the hunt again!  About 15 minutes later, Brooklyn reluctantly picks a "normal" looking pumpkin and said, "I guess I will just be happy with this one!"  OH BROTHER!  I just thought this was very telling of their personalities!
One day after school, we started our carving.  Colson was excited at first and then that changed very soon!  I ended up carving his and he just played in the goo from the inside!  I used a mallet and cookie cutters and we did a fall pumpkin for him and Brooklyn wanted a "plain" Jack-o-lantern!
