May 2015

May is always such a busy month!  It is filled with end of the year parties for activities, the start of summer swim season, and so much family time!  We are so blessed for sure!
Colson had a double-header soccer game on the day of the Boys and Girls Club Fundraising Event and Carnival, so Mimi, Poppi, and I took Brooklyn to enjoy the day!  There was so much to do with area marching bands, choirs, dance teams, food, crafts, and fun carnival games.  It is a great day to support such an amazing charity.

Brooklyn's choir at Lemm practices every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:30.  We are so proud of Brooklyn and her dedication to the program that she began this year.  She truly loves singing in the choir and I hope she continues!  Their very last performance was a combined concert with the high school, the middle school, and the 4 schools that feed into that middle school.  It was amazing to see the different performances and to see how the kids will change as they get older!

Very interesting spelling of Alford!
Our yearly Saturday pampering for Mother's Day!  Now that we are all moms, we just enjoy each others' company without kiddos around!  Pedi time!

We had a fun night with Karianne and Kline while we watched them for Tracie and Seth to go to her Teacher of the Year banquet.  We at chili dogs, played, dressed up and even broke out the big body bubbles!  They loved it!

And so the summer swim season has begun!  We are proud to be on the Candlelight Hill Cuda swim team again.  Colson will swim in the 6 and under for one more year and Brooklyn will swim in the 7 and 8 for one more year.  We are looking forward to a great season with some new friends joining the team along with us!  The Sanders, Hancocks, and Pegueros have now joined which will be super fun this season!

Team cheer time!

Colson is always so laid back while waiting to start!

Brooklyn is more focused from the time she is on the ready bench

It is going to be a great season!  Brooklyn placed first in several events and Colson was in the top 3 in all of his events!!!
After a long first swim meet, it was great to have a girls' night out with friends!  Long time friends are the very best!

End of the year soccer party rounded out the weekend!  Boy was it a busy weekend with kid activities but it was a great one! The Sommer Family had us over again...as was true for our whole season, it rained at the party, but we had some clearing which made some time for the kids to swim.  They had a blast!  It was such a rainy and yucky season, but one to remember for sure!

Swim meets continue...this one was an away meet....got rained out....we had to leave early also for Isa's graduation!  The kids both did great though in the events they competed in!
Our friends are adopting their 6th child...this is baby Violet and you know Brooklyn was thrilled to hold her!

The little ones

The big ones

Because of the circumstances in Robert's life at the time, we never saw Robert walk across the stage for his high school graduation.  We are so proud of Isa and thrilled that we were a part of his special day!  He is a good kid and can't wait to see what he will do with his future.  It is crazy to imagine that I met him when he was 4 years old and he was the little ring bearer in our wedding!  Love this kid and love the relationship that we have with him!

Movies with friends!  We went to enjoy a day with friends.  Giselle and Giselle both were able to go with their families!

Brooklyn has now completed her 4th year as a girl scout.  We have had girls come and go in the troop but we are so proud of the girls that remain a part of the troop.  They are girls that have a heart of gold and truly love making the troop their own and making it successful.  It has been fun to see them transition the troop from one that was run by parents, to one that has decisions made by them!  Tonight they bridged from Brownies to Juniors!  Brooklyn was voted as the "Sister to Every Girl Scout" Award recipient and she was thrilled!  I am so proud of her and the love of Jesus that she shows no matter where she goes!

We are Juniors now!!

Brooklyn's award!
Well, we had the unfortunate experience this month to get to deal with lice....nits.  Brooklyn had them given to her by a friend because it is recurring in the 3rd grade with one girl in particular!  I am so sad that she has had to go through this.  We have had no couch cushions for 2 weeks, have been washing sheets and towels nightly, bought a special comb and shampoo, and have spent over 18 hours checking her head for nits.  We never had any live ones, but it has been HORRIBLE!
As the end of the year special event for the girl scout troop, they went to Wild Winks which is an overnight program at the zoo.  The girls got to go on a night tour, learn cool things about the animals, eat pizza, and stay overnight at the zoo!  This was Brooklyn's first time to spend the night somewhere other than here or family's house, and she did great!  She is growing up!

Go Cudas!
