August 2014

We started off our August visiting Granny for her 86th birthday!!!!!!!  She has had a very rough year, but is still all smiles when she sees the kids come in to visit her.  We are sad that she will probably have to leave her home at Magnolia Heights because it is so close to us and we get to see her pretty often!  Everytime I walk in, the workers always tell me how much I look like my Granny!

Then we were off to Cool Nights at the Houston Zoo!  They stay opened late on Friday nights in the summer because it is so hot here!  They had a Houston Dynamo player there to meet and sign autographs so the Pierrel family invited us to go and had some tickets for us!  It was SO fun!  The animals were out and about and it was such a cool experience to feed the giraffes for the first time!

TJ and LoLo invited us over for a night of fun at Sugar and PoppyT's house!  We had such a fun time swimming and got to bring baby John with us.  He was a little fussy but was out of his element for sure and it was late!  We had a great time catching up and letting the kids enjoy each other!!!!!  I SO wish we could do it more often!

Top Golf and Trampolines!!!!!!!  We got to visit two very fun new places around us.  The kids LOVED Top Golf and we had a great time at Sky Zone with the Moffitts!

Colson had his very first sleepover friend spend the night at our house!  Marshall was so excited to come over and did an awesome job for his first time away from his mommy!  I was so proud of him!

As we do every August, we patiently awaited Meet the Teacher at Lemm so the kids could see who they would be spending their year with this year!  We were excited that Brooklyn has Mrs. Combs and Mrs. Khazzoum and Colson has Mrs. Trevino and Mrs. Abshire.  We have heard from other teachers that these teachers are great partnerships to be placed with so we are hoping for a wonderful year in 3rd and 1st grade.

1st Grade Math and Science Ms. Trevino
First day of school is always filled with nerves for 3 of us in the house.  I am still one that cannot sleep the night before school starts!  I always wake Brooklyn up and get her ready for school because Curt does not touch her hair.  She is an early riser and wakes up talking so it has never been a problem to wake her up early.  Colson on the other hand loves to sleep until the last minute!  Curt wakes him up and he quietly and groggily gets his clothes on and barely gets out the door for the bus.  We are excited to start the year and have a great one this year!  I am starting my 13th year of teacher and Curt is starting his 14th year!

Colson is catching up in height!  This pic shows their personalities!

Their choice for first day of school meal was POTATO SOUP!!!!
