First Day of School 2013

Brooklyn is a second grader and Colson is starting his elementary school years as a kindergartener!  My baby is in school now....real school!  I cannot believe it!  We are thrilled to see how God is going to bless the kids this year and how their year is going to go!  Brooklyn always wears a dress on the first day of school and Colson always wears a "button" shirt.  If you know anything about Colson, HE HATES BUTTON SHIRTS!  I established this summer that there are a few days he has to dress up and this was one of them!  They always get to pick their favorite meal...this year PIZZA ZONE PIZZA!  Yes!  Momma was thrilled that they wanted something easy!

Meet the Teacher 2013

As the school year approached this year, both kids were filled with thoughts of who their teacher was going to be.  Curt and I had been praying that they would both have the perfect teachers for them.  It really sunk in how big Brooklyn is getting when we realized she would be departmentalized and have two teachers this year.  It is amazing that she is flowing through so smoothly and truly is knocking our socks off.  We found out as we walked in the school that Brooklyn will have Mrs. Postma and Mr. Orcutt and Colson would have Mrs. Rangel.  WE WERE THRILLED!  We have heard constant praise about all three of these teachers and were looking forward to a wonderful year!  Brooklyn was thrilled that her best friend Giselle is in her class, and we were thrilled for Colson to have a very structured teacher this year! Here's to a great year!!!
Who are the lucky teachers????

The kids were thrilled to see Roary!

Mr. Postma is one of the most well-liked teachers at the school!

Just Hanging Around the House

Oh Brooklyn!  She is SO my creative one who often lives in her own creative world!  This is a perfect picture to depict that for sure!

Summer Work

Curt has worked for the SISD Special Ed department for many years.  He has also worked a summer job for them with the Extended School Year program.  They take high school students into a workplace and train them on the job.  It is great money and Curt has really enjoyed his many years at Mercer Arboretum, Wal-Mart, and Houston Northwest Hospital.  This year he was at the hospital where his students work in the cafeteria cleaning, restocking paper goods, and getting everything turned around from breakfast to dinner.  The kids wanted to go see him this year so we took a day to go up there.  It was neat for me to see a young man that was in my 5th grade class and is now working with Curt.  He is a special needs high school student and was surprised to see me!  I think he remembered me....not for sure though!

Swim, Breathe, LOVE

Colson started swimming with PACK Splash in February of this year.  Brooklyn was able to join after her release from her ear surgery in June.  It was the best instructor the kids have ever had!  Mrs. Stephanie truly taught the kids so much.  She is wonderful at what she does and the kids were witness to it!  Brooklyn has found her "sport" that she will continue with!  She is doing all strokes beautifully.  Stephanie is encouraging us to join her neighborhood swim team in the Spring because the kids are doing so well....I think we will!!!

College Reunion With Kids

Not only am I blessed to have wonderful high school friends still in my life, but I am doubly blessed to have AWESOME college friends in my life.  I love that JaNan gets to come down and play, Laurie lives close, and Meagan is a four hour drive away now!  Fun times with true friends!

High School Reunion with Kids

In August, we were thrilled that Jessica was able to come visit for a short day from Oklahoma!  Jessica and I were best of buds  during all of middle school and high school.  Our other guard friend and bestie from high school, Stephanie, just had her first baby.  We really were excited to see Kayla and Stephanie as we are both finished having our own children.  Stephanie looked great and Kayla is such a little precious doll!  I feel so blessed to still have contact with my friends from 20 years ago!  It is amazing that no matter where Jessica has lived (military husband), we have always made the time to keep connected!
