Spring Break 2013

Here I sit on the Friday winding down our Spring break, so thankful!  We have had a WONDERFUL week filled with family and friends!
I am sad that I got no pictures with my Aunt Linda and Uncle Ed but they came in town to visit!  It was such a wonderful visit...Curt and I went out for our 10 year anniversary and they got the kids to themselves.  It was a good time of bonding for them and really getting to know them without mom and dad around!
10 years ago today I married my perfect match.  So in love!
Then we went over to the Heemers to just have some fun play time and time to play!  The kids always have an awesome time when we are able to get together!  Cannot believe we have been friends for 10 years!

On Sunday night, we had the Alford family over to eat and of course I was so busy getting everything ready and cleaned up that I didn't get pictures!  We had Pit Master's BBQ...love us some pulled pork!

Brooklyn had her surgery on her ear on Monday March 11th.  She has a 30 % hole in her left ear which has caused a hearing loss in her left ear.  We would have never known that she wasn't hearing but she failed her hearing test at school.  I am so thankful for those hearing tests!  They cut behind her ear and took out tissue to patch the backside of the eardrum.  She was so nervous.  She cried in bed the night before, very nervous. She was such a trooper and never has complained since the surgery.  It was delayed a few hours but we were so impressed with how all of the doctors and nurses have taken care of her during and after the surgery.
Ear before the surgery!

Mimi and Poppi brought a pot of flowers for Brooklyn!

My little gardener!

We gave Brooklyn her Lego Friends set Olivia's House to do after surgery!

This gave her something to do to lay low  while we had our company during the week.

Her little hospital puppy!

Mimi, Poppi, Memaw, Aunt Cynthia, and Aunt Crystal were all there for her!

Daddy with her bubble gum mask on!

Still asleep!!!  Very groggy!

She woke up about half way home!
When we got home our friends the Luleys came to visit for the week!  We had such a great time with Tatum and Hallie.  It means the world to us that we are still close to the Pierrels and Luleys!  College roommates are the best in the world!  Love that our kids are so close and hope that they continue their friendships for as long as we have!

A royal tea party!

Good morning!
Julie brought Reese and Ethan to play!  We met Julie in the dorm rooms and it has been a long time since Meagan and Julie have been able to see each other!  It was a fun reunion 14 years later!

Brooklyn laid low while the others played.

Just like old times minus the 6 kids!

Trampoline races!

Acorn collecting was a hit!

Brooklyn wore her hat to protect her incision!
Wednesday we ventured out to the rodeo for a day of fun with the Pierrels and Luleys!  The kids had a great time!

Go Texan Day 2013

As I have said many years in the past, Texans are proud to be Texans!  We are people who pledge to our flag every morning at school, who love to two-step, who love country music, and love to eat anything on a stick around rodeo time!  Every school has Go Texan Day which is full of fun!  This year we have been visiting a local church that had a good ole' fashioned Barn Dance.  We went up there and got to watch the kids ride ponies, learn to square dance, line dance, eat funnel cakes, and just enjoy the environment where we were!
We love our state and feel fortunate to live where we do!

Super Bowl Time

This year in the Super Bowl, it was the SF 49ers taking on the Baltimore Ravens and Beyonce in charge of the half time show!  I have no liking for either team but sort of was rooting for the 49ers and really enjoyed the half time performance!  Really, it is a great time for us all to get together for some yummy food, drinks, and play time for the kids and adults!  Thank you Lackeys, Moffitts, Pierrels, and Salazars for coming over!  We had a great time!
Dinner time!

Guys watching the game!

And eating!

Kids had a great time playing outside!

Valentine's Day

HAPPY HEART DAY!
Colson was given the task from his school to make a valentine box of his liking!  Well, Colson is not the crafty guy, so when all else fails....turn to pinterest!  We found a few good ideas and he decided on the Angry Bird box!  Because he was doing it, Brooklyn wanted to do one too, so she made a valentine's pig!  They both turned out super cute....of course with the help of daddy on Colson's!  Brooklyn took hers on all by herself!
We had a great day filled with parties, valentine cards, candy, conversation hearts, and a lot of LOVE!
Time to create our boxes!

Colson's finished product!

Colson wrote this to Brooklyn!  His handwriting is so much better!

He wrote his name on every card all by himself this year!
