Proud Parent Moment

Between Mother's Day and Father's Day each year our church does a fundraiser for the Pregnancy Assistance Center North that is near us.  They give us a ton of baby bottles and we fill them with change and return them to help support the work they do with prenatal care and counsel of women having babies.  Brooklyn always loves doing this and grabs bottles to fill.  She loves coming home and emptying her piggy bank into the bottles and seeing how heavy they get!  The heavier the better!  This year she told us that she wanted to have a lemonade stand and all of the money that she makes will fill the baby bottles!  WOW...proud mommy moment!  We set up a stand and she made $84.58!!!!!   At the beginning we had very few customers but it was so cute listening to her and Colson yell, "Fresh Lemonade, very cold, with clean ice!"  She just said, "I just want one customer...that is all!"  They all started coming and it was so awesome!
Bro. John Culley, our pastor, pulled Brooklyn on stage and recognized her genuine heart and said how it is so awesome to see God working through such a little lady!

Lake Tejas Camping Trip

Our good friends Tracy and Michael Moffitt invited us to join them on their new camper for a weekend camping trip!  I must say that when we think of camping we think of tents.  Tent camping in the Houston heat in summer is not appealing to me.  The camper was perfect!  They just bought it and it is beautiful.  We headed about 2 hours away and went to swim in the lake, enjoy the outdoors, but also enjoy sleeping indoors at night!  It was a fantastic trip filled with great swim time, slide time, diving board time, evening walk times, bathing outdoor times, and excellent company!  The kids all were great and had a wonderful time!  Our kids were sad for the weekend to come to an end!  Thank you for a great time!

Girl Scout Zoo Trip

In June, we braved the heat on a Sunday afternoon and hit the Houston Zoo as a group.  We had several girls able to join us and our leaders were there also!  Mrs. Hutson, Brooklyn's kindergarten teacher, joined us too!  She is wanting to get involved in Girl Scouts with the girls since they meet at the school and she never had her own children to do the scout thing with.  Brooklyn is very excited about that!  It was an incredibly hot day but the girls had fun.  We went to the new dinosaur exhibit and that definitely proved to be a favorite spot of the day.  The dinos looked so real, moved, made noises, and even some sprayed water on us!!

Girl Scouts Build A Bear Day

As an outing for the girls at the end of the year, we went to Build A Bear to make the 100th Anniversary Girl Scout bear!  The girls had a hula hoop contest and got to build their own bear!  They loved picking out clothes for their bear but we stuck with the daisy vest that would be coming in in a few weeks!  What fun it was to see the girls excitement!
